Irish Athletic Third-level Boxing Association (IATBA) Championships 2026
Venue: National Boxing Stadium Complex, 145 South Circular Road, Dublin 8
Competition Dates:
- Day 1: Saturday, 7th March 2026
- Day 2: Sunday, 8th March 2026
- Day 3: Friday, 13th March 2026
- Day 4: Saturday, 14th March 2026
All weigh-ins and bouts will take place at the National Boxing Stadium Complex.
Entries & Registration
Entry Process:
Registration and entry forms will go live on http://www.iatba.ie on Monday, 9th February 2026. All third-level institutions entering students must pay a €100 institutional membership fee. The competitor fee is €35. Entry fees are pre-paid and non-refundable.
Entry Deadline:
Tuesday, 24th February 2026, at 23:59.
Entry Requirements:
Competitors must produce their Boxing Medical Book and a valid student ID for the current academic year. Entries are subject to vetting and require approval from third-level institutions’ Sports Officers/Student Services staff. No boxer will be entered into the draw until payment is received by IATBA.
Weigh-in Rules:
Novice boxers weigh in on the first day they compete and again on Finals day. All other categories weigh in on any day they compete.
Draw Date:
Sunday, 1st March 2026. Draw will be available on http://www.iatba.ie.
Competition Structure & Classifications
Age Categories:
- Elite: Male & Female competitors aged 19 – 40 years (born between 1st January 1986 – 31st December 2007).
- Youth: Male & Female competitors aged 17 – 18 years (born between 1st January 2008 – 31st December 2009).
Qualifying Criteria:
Competitors must be fully registered students with a valid ID for the academic year. They must have completed second-level education and be enrolled in a Level 6-10 (QQI) or Level 4-8 (Northern Ireland National Qualifications Framework) course. Apprenticeship students are not eligible to compete. Competitors must be registered IABA members and belong to an affiliated IABA boxing club.

Junior Novice
- Criteria: 0 – 3 bouts
- Registration: Registered from 01 Jan 2025
- Condition: Must not have competed in the 2025 IATBA Junior Novice championships
- Rounds: 3 x 2 minutes
- Weights: 51 – 54 Kg, 57 Kg, 60 Kg, 63 Kg, 66 Kg, 69 Kg, 72 Kg, 75 Kg, 78 Kg, 81 Kg, 86 Kg, 91 Kg, 91+ Kg
Senior Novice
- Criteria: 4 – 10 bouts
- Registration: Registered from 01 Jan 2023
- Rounds: 3 x 2 minutes
- Weights: 51 – 54 Kg, 57 Kg, 60 Kg, 64 Kg, 67 Kg, 71 Kg, 75 Kg, 81 Kg, 86 Kg, 91 Kg, 91+ Kg
Intermediate (11 – 25 bouts, or 0 – 25 bouts registered before 01 Jan 2023*)

Additional Regulations
- Progression: Boxers who have won an IATBA championship at a specific category must move up a level. Boxers can request to move up one experience level but cannot move back down for future IATBA events.
- Declarations: Novice and Intermediate competitors must declare their IABA registration date. Competitors found to be providing false information will be immediately disqualified.
Medical & Safety Requirements:
- All competitors must be deemed fit to box by their club.
- Non-Pregnancy Declaration Forms are required for female athletes.
- Competitors must have one red and one blue vest (college team vests are permitted).
- Coaches must wear tracksuits and trainers. No caps/hats allowed.
- Headguards: Required for Novice Males, Youths, Intermediates, and all Female competitors.
- Beard Length: Must not exceed 10 cm.
- Gum Shields: Red, orange, or pink gum shields are forbidden.
- Sportsmanship: Respect officials and accept decisions in a sporting manner.
Entry Submission
Complete the 2026 IATBA Championships Entry Form available on http://www.iatba.ie from 09th February 2026.
Provide details including weight class, experience level, and personal/contact information. €35 entry fee can be paid online via Clubforce payment wall or select “College will pay”. Colleges/universities will be invoiced for payment once all student entries are submitted. Payment via bank transfer is preferred. An entry list will be uploaded periodically to track paid entries.
