
The Leinster IABA Council has announced the Leinster Novice & Intermediate Championships 2026, hosted by Arklow BC. The Championships are open to all Leinster and Dublin clubs only.
Entries close at 5pm on Friday 16th October 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for student boxers to gain valuable competition experience. Whether it is a first bout or the next step up, the Novice and Intermediate categories give boxers a well-organised, properly graded competition in which to test their training.
Venue: Arklow BC, Emoclew Road, Arklow, Co. Wicklow, Y14 A240
Dates: Friday 30th October, Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November 2026. Additional dates will be added if required.
Entry deadline: 5pm sharp, Friday 16th October 2026
Draw: Week beginning 19th October 2026
Categories
- Junior Novice: 0-3 bouts and less than one year registered on their boxing book. The registration year runs one year from 1st January 2026.
- Senior Novice: 4-10 bouts and less than three years registered on their boxing book. Registration must be after 1st January 2024.
- Intermediate: 11-25 bouts.
- Open Intermediate: More than 25 bouts.
All boxers born between 1986 and 2007 are eligible to enter.
Format and weights
- Novice (male and female): 3 x 2-minute rounds
- Intermediate (male and female): 3 x 3-minute rounds
- Male: 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 and 90+ kg
- Female: 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 and 90+ kg
How to enter

- Open to all Leinster and Dublin clubs.
- The entry fee is €30 per boxer. It is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
- Each club’s total fees must be paid at weigh-in, before weigh-in, on the first morning that the club’s first boxer competes, however many boxers weigh in.
- Only boxers whose entries are complete and whose fees have been received will be allowed to box.
- No late entries will be accepted.
- Club coaches will be contacted to confirm all club entries before the draw.
Weigh-in
Boxers weigh in on the morning of their first bout, between 7 and 8am at Arklow BC. No check-weight is permitted.
- Boxing record books must be presented by the boxer at their initial weigh-in.
- Non-Pregnancy Declaration forms must be signed for female boxers.
- Each club is responsible for presenting boxers who are fit to box, as the IABA Rule Book requires.
Please note
- Boxing times will be announced after the draw.
- All dates and times are subject to change, and the running of the Championships depends on entries.
- Submitting a boxer is the club’s acceptance of all Championship criteria, and the Championship Committee will monitor adherence throughout.
- Clubs are advised to read the full circular, including the rules on coaches, attire and sportsmanship, before entering.
