Note: Boxers who have won an IATBA championship at a certain category automatically move up a category class, regardless of their number of bouts.

Note: Boxers may move up one experience level for reasons of competition on request to the organizing committee. However, boxers who choose to exercise this option may not move back down an experience class for future IATBA events.

Note: The Junior Novice Category is intended for Competitors that are in their first year of boxing. Competitors registered to IABA earlier than 19th March 2023, and having not more than 3 bouts must compete in the Senior Novice category regardless of the number of bouts on their record book. This is to ensure that Boxers with more sparring experience do not obtain an unfair advantage over less experienced Boxers.

Any boxer deemed to have falsified their entry information in order to gain a competitive advantage will be immediately removed from the competition. Regrettably, this has happened in previous years.

All Novice Competitors must include their date of registration on the Competition Entry Form. The organizing committee will check all boxing cards at registration.

Irish Athletic Third-level Boxing Association Boxing competitions are governed in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Boxing Association (IBA). The Official in Charge of the competition will follow the IBA Open Boxing Competition Rules. Please note that, under IBA rules, boxers who are engaged in ’Other Physical Contact Sports’ are not eligible to compete. Refer to www.aiba.org for more information.
